We are delighted to have had the opportunity to welcome three outstanding artists to our school in April. The writer Gianpaolo Chiriaco, the musician Greta Marcolongo, and the actress and vocal coach Alessandra Limetti presented the performative lecture "Black Sounds Matter." This performance highlighted the power of Black American music and its deep connection to social justice and equality. Inspired by Chiriaco's book, "Black Voices - History and Anthropology of African American Singing," the lecture explored the rich history of African American music, from slavery and segregation to the civil rights movement. Chiriaco's insights provided an interesting context, emphasizing the resilience and creativity of African American communities. The event was an immersive experience, blending music, storytelling, and performance.. "Black Sounds Matter" was more than an educational experience; it celebrated cultural heritage and the ongoing fight for social justice. Marcolongo, Chiriaco, and Limetti provided our students with a unique opportunity to connect with the historical and cultural importance of African American music.
