Throughout the week, the students were engaged mostly in afternoon lessons at the renowned language school “International House“, where they had three teachers working with them. They all highly enjoyed the lively and challenging lessons, the motivating teaching methods and they appreciated the warm-hearted and friendly teachers. Every morning before school, we went to see the sights, took long strolls through the city and some of its gorgeous parks, visited various museums and also went to see the picturesque Howth in the north of Dublin. While we were in Howth, we went on a cliff walk down to the lighthouse and took in the breath-taking panorama. We could even sight seals swimming close to the harbour, not to forget our meal of delicious fish and chips that we enjoyed after our walk. A further highlight of our trip was the spectacular Irish dancing on our last day! All in all, we had a fantastic week during which we all learned a lot. Anfang des Jahres flogen wir, eine 15 köpfige Schüler*innengruppe und zwei Begleitpersonen, nach Dublin. Dort wurden wir von unseren Gastfamilien abgeholt und in Zweier- bis Vierergruppen in unser kurzzeitig neues Zuhause gebracht.
Wie sah unser Alltag in Dublin aus? Da der Unterricht an der Sprachschule „International House“ im Zentrum Dublins immer nachmittags stattfand, unterschied sich unser täglicher Ablauf etwas von unserem gewohnten Alltag in Südtirol. Vormittags unternahmen wir verschiedene Ausflüge, besichtigten Museen, flanierten durch die Stadt und nach einer kurzen Mittagsstärkung ging es dann direkt ans Lernen. Die uns gebotene Lernumgebung beeindruckte sehr; die Methodenvielfalt und die Qualität des Unterrichts kam bei allen gut an und wir empfanden die Unterrichtszeit als sehr gewinnbringend. Außerdem schätzten wir die Freundlichkeit und Herzlichkeit der IH-Lehrpersonen sehr.
Resümee: Die Sprachreise nach Dublin war für alle eine tolle, wertvolle und lehrreiche Erfahrung. Sprache, Kultur, Land und Leute auf diese Art und Weise kennenzulernen, ist einzigartig, bereichernd und besonders.
